Poem 41: New Year's Day

By Vijay Simhadri

This poem was written on New Year's Eve 2007

It was going to be New Year's day,

The celebrations were on the way,

For it was to be a fresh new year,

To those who reminisced the past so dear,

Feelings were very nostalgic,

Others were waiting for the clocks to tick,

Waiting for the midnight hour,

Also for the cake to devour.

Everyone was enjoying their party,

They were gathered near the clock to see,

When the clock struck twelve,

Everyone would delve

Into their pockets and indeed dare

To throw confetti into the air.
