Poem 39: Aquatic Plant

By Vijay Simhadri

There was a lovely aquatic plant,

In the waves it did in fact enchant

The clouded skies, sunlight and breeze,

All over the weathered seas,

It stood in the seas magical,

In the weather it did crinkle,

It belonged to the Southern Hemisphere,

It looked very icy and austere,

However as the temperature dipped cold,

Its tapering leaves did unfold,

So that in the chilly, ocean wind,

The plant had withered and thinned.
