Poem 36: The Lighthouse. By Vijay Simhadri
The Lighthouse was near the coast,
Lighting up the place at the most,
For ships to observe and see,
Near the harborside and at every lee,
It glittered yellow light as a beam.
The place did in fact seem
Like a guide to every ship,
That did occasionally slip
Out of control and out of bound,
For those unlucky who later drowned.

This poem reminds me of the
Lighthouse of Alexandria, in Egypt which was recently discovered underwater in the late 1990's.
