The arid desert was incandescent, burning a lot,
It reminded me of western films - yes this was the spot
That films were taken in those days.
So powerful and heated were the sun's rays,
I looked around in search of water,
No family I had present: no mother or daughter,
It was just me in this lifeless area,
I shouted out loud,
Only echoes could I hear,
The skies were without a cloud,
Only orange atmosphere filled the sky,
I gazed up high,
Hoping rain would fall,
Or someone would hear my call.
Cactuses were nearby,
I thought there was no need to cry,
I slit one and drank water from it with glee,
I grinned with happiness, there was no need to flee.
